Several options are available for hikers to reach the 800-meter-high summit of Mount-Dore, dominating the lagoon south of Nouméa and a wide panorama, including the South's red earth and the small islands facing it. The most spectacular way is the cliff trail.

The climb is steep (count around 4 hours there and back, through this well-marked path), but all along its way you can enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas offered by Grand Nouméa over the ocean and the mountains of the great South.

    Climb at dawn

It is warmly recommended (and this is not just a pun) to climb the Mount at dawn, even more so if you are a keen photographer.
